Every custom home brings with it the possibility of thinking outside of the box and the Steel Farmhouse is no exception. As a matter of fact, it’s a nice blend of typical elements that make a home functional with a custom twist.
Here are some of the features that are creative, functional, and outside of the box:
- Dog Bath. Located in the mudroom powder room, these pups will be sparkling clean before even coming into the house.
- Dog feeding station. Located at the base of the island is a dog feeding station complete with a waterspout. The island still overhangs to avoid it being a tripping hazard and an extra stool can be pulled up if need be.
- Shit shelf with live edge wood top. I always design a shit shelf in my project (as well as a junk drawer. This is where we locate plenty of outlets with USBs for charging devices, mail, and calendars can all be located I. A designated place. I find if I don’t provide this space, everything ends up on the kitchen counter so why not plan ahead?
- Window seat and wood storage with live edge wood tops. With plenty of light pouring into the great room, the built-ins on each side of the wild-burning fireplace boast window seats as well as wood storage with a metal liner to protect the built-in.
We have already reviewed the steel elements in the previous blogs but just to review those “outside of the box” elements: monorail stair system, structural beams, and cantilevered decks.
Introducing these elements keeps the house interesting as well as functional. So, think outside of the box and what unique element can you introduce to your home.
