In New England we believe that island life is for living big and entertaining!
It might not be warm every day of the year here, but we certainly don’t mind entertaining inside when we have an huge island to say “cheers” around.
This island houses the following:
- The sink
- Dishwasher
- Tupperware Storage
- Trash & recycling
- Art Supplies for the kids
- Seating for 5
The length is 130” and there is a seam just to the left of the kitchen sink that you virtually have to use a magnifying glass to see. The countertop is Ceasarstone Frosty Carina with a polished finish.
The base cabinets are white oak with a matte finish. Under the seating area is shiplap white oak, great for dirty feet to kick and not be seen. The pattern is not only interesting but works well with the rest of the materials in the space and house. I like white oak because it reads a subtle “white”pattern texture but doesn’t “scream” out loud.
To top it off are three light fixtures that are 14” wide from Shades of Light. The height and volume of these lights are perfect with a clear glass shade. The black metal trim at the bottom pulls out the black cabinet hardware.
(NOTE: Always remember to match your light fixture finish to the cabinet hardware.)
