New Englander Meets Modern-Interior

I was in the market for a new website and asked Maggie of Seacoast Lately if she had any recommendations. Stout Heart flew to her lips and we synched at “hello”.
I appreciated Stout Heart’s structure and communication format as well as direction for creatives and technical requirements. I was so relieved that they guided me through the process with grace and ease on a complex website.
I really enjoyed the entire process from creative to technical but most of all, the end result!
Business is personal for me. After all, I work in people’s private homes and I get to know my clients well – and so does Stout Heart. A few months after the launch of my new website, I received an email from the owner of Stout Heart titled, “Help me Stay In My Home”. It was a compliment and privilege to work on this project with her.
The project scope included accommodating a growing and very active family living in a small home in Portsmouth, NH. There was an existing small room off the back of the house that was not functioning well and a detached garage. With Start Island Builders selected as the contractor, we removed the dysfunctional room, created a two-story addition and attached the house to the garage. The project incorporates a new mudroom, family room, kitchen, living area, dining room (with built-in vinyl record wall), hallway with storage, powder room | laundry, kid’s bath, and master suite.
The existing home is a traditional New Englander but the design aesthetic focus was simple and modern. The goal was to blend the house and addition to the garage from the front as graceful as possible, but the back and interior would be modern from the moment you open the door.
The result is amazing! I love the dimensional cabinetry juxtaposing white and walnut with large format tile floor as well as polished concrete floor to work beautifully with white walls and black window casing.
