Traditional Farmhouse

This new construction traditional farmhouse is located on 11 acres in Durham, NH.

Inspired by her parent’s home in CT, my client focused primarily on designing a home that is classic to the eye. It is designed to be built efficiently with standard height studs determining the wall height and standard structural requirements.

The four-bedroom, three-bath home will finish roughly 4000sf of conditioned space to include, a large kitchen with island, dining area, living room, office, mudroom, 2 pantries and a sunroom on the first floor. The second floor will have the four-bedrooms, two-baths and laundry. Over the garage will be a large space for family room and the basement will be partially finished with a wood stove and walk out glass door and full-height windows.

Taking advantage of the gorgeous property there will be a large covered porch and separate deck to enjoy the views of the field and trees. The siding will be white clapboards, black exterior finish double hung windows with six-over-six grill pattern and the gable walls with be natural cedar shingles.

The finish materials will be classic slate tile in the mudroom and laundry and oak floors throughout. The bathrooms with have classic porcelain tiles in the shape of hexagon and subways.

The cabinetry will be a light greige with simply white walls and Carrara countertops. The island will have a butcher block top to work with the nickel-gap vertical wainscot on the walls and back of the island. The cabinets will have inset doors with exposed hinges and classic hardware. They will install these cabinet unpainted and painted on site for a solid, perfect finish.

With a nod to the historic farmhouse, this home will hold many family memories in the years to come.
