“These are a Few of Our Favorite Things”

“These are a Few of Our Favorite Things” is from my favorite musical; The Sound of Music.

This musical brings back childhood memories of singing with my mother and dancing around the Living Room with friends as we acted out the songs (I was the youngest, so I always played Gretel). A magical song about things that can make you happy similar to how these amazing projects that we had in 2018 make me happy.

Looking back at 2018, we were lucky enough to design interesting and inspiring projects with great clients.

VIEWS FROM THE MASTER BATH:

Located in the Kittery Foreside, this home was completely rebuilt after discovering that it was not structurally sound after demo. Moylan Builders literally pulled the house back together with steel rods. An addition was added off the back to house the mudroom, kitchen, pantry on the first floor and the master and kid’s bath on the second floor. The master bath is spectacular with a 7’ x 5’ shower, double vanity, water closet, dressing table, linen and this beautiful tub with views outside.

OCEAN COTTAGE AT TWILIGHT:

This home was completely rebuilt from a small cottage and received a new second floor to house a large master suite and a deck with ocean views while functioning as a covered entry. A 18’ x 32’ addition off the back was also added for the amazing kitchen and dining room. Yes, every surface was refinished with new materials. This project was about as detail oriented as it gets!

ISLAND WITH SOAPSTONE & LIVE WOOD EDGE:

Inspired by Japanese architecture, this new construction home in Newmarket, NH boasts simple and clean lines. “Simple” translates into difficult in the building industry. The talented crew of Haven Hill Builders paid close attention to detail to create this amazing home not to mention an island that is breathtaking. Claro walnut from the west coast with live edge marries soapstone seating 6 and is surprisingly soft to the hand. More images…

SHOWER CUPOLAS THAT SHINE LIGHT:

Have you ever taken a shower while looking out the roof? Well, this cupola is inside an amazing 5’ x 5’ shower. Uplit on timers and downlit by wall switch, this shower has Grohe body jets, shower head and handheld with Carrara mosaic flooring and white porcelain wall tile. Greenier Builders made my vision a reality and it’s so cool!  More images…

BUILT-IN RECORD COLLECTIONS:

This wall is actually structural. In this photo you are seeing the structural posts holding the beam above. But instead of just a wall, why not also create record storage for an avid vinyl collector? Built from walnut, this is a collaborative effort between the custom cabinet maker and Star Island Builders. I’m excited to bring you more photos of this New Englander meets Modern project soon.

We look ahead to 2019 with the anticipation of bringing you just as inspiring visual treats for your home. If you have a great project for 2019, let’s chat.
